What I did…
We landed in Bangkok after the 1 hour flight from Vietnam and Jase, who was sat away from me and Ed on the flight was 1st through check-in. Me and Ed forgot to fill in our arrival cards and were sent from the front, after waiting for an hour, to fill them in!
We met back up with Eva at Bella Bella guest house and all checked into a dorm type room. After going our separate ways for an hour or so me and Ed bumped into Nikki from Laos and had a quick catch up over a beer. After an afternoon nap we all headed out for food and a few beers.
Back to Kho San and after a quick Burger King we partied in the middle of the street. The highlight of which was Gaz selling drinks for the owner using their sandwich board! He sold a few, and the owner was pretty pleased with his new FOC employee!
We checked out the following morning and waited around for our local bus to Pattaya to spend the Xmas period with Jason’s parents. We found a cheap-ish guest house, ate and then went to people watch down Walking Street.
Pattaya is THE most seedy place I have ever been to in my life, there seems to be no rules or no conscious to what is right or wrong. But it is all accepted as a way of life there by the locals and it looked like most of them enjoyed working there…
I got dragged into a magic trick on Walking Street where a guy pushed 3 cigarettes into my new t-shirt and made them disappear in front of my eyes… and also did not burn my t-shirt in the process, which I was quite happy about!
Up for a burger brunch the next day that turned out to be a ham sandwich, which I, understandably, was very disappointed about! Me and Ed hit the beach and talked about the money he won and how he was going to spend it. He decided, very kindly, to treat me, himself and Jason to a few nights in a really nice hotel over Xmas. So with that in mind we went a little crazy and looked at rooms all afternoon and night in the nicest hotels around. The Hilton was the stand out one but was not practical due to it being a honeymoon suite, and costing well over budget! We found a very nice room that was more like a flat, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and a kitchen area. We were all sold on the place pretty much instantly and booked the nights over Xmas. Going back to where we were staying that night was now a major let down, but one night and then to live it up in our very own suite!
We got back to our hole and got ready to go and meet Jason’s parents that landed late that night. Had a beer of two to welcome them to Thailand and then hit McDonald’s on the way home, SUPER-SIZE!
Me and Ed headed to the beach the next day while Jason spent time with his parents, we brought some Xmas decorations for our hotel room and then booked our Xmas day meal at the Irish bar that Jason’s parents kindly took us out for. We took Jason’s parents down Walking Street to give them an idea of what Pattaya had to offer. We all played pool and then headed home via the kebab shop!
Next day we moved into our Xmas pad and set up all the Xmas decorations including tree and banner that turned out to say ‘Happy New Year’ and not ‘Happy Xmas’ like we thought! Me and Ed hired a bike and went in search of a beach not full of Russian pimps, we found nothing and ended back on the same beach, just a lot further up from where we were staying. We all got a few beers in that night and watched Anchorman once again!
Xmas Eve me and Ed went in the other direction to find a beach minus the Russian pimps. We failed again (they were everywhere!) but they were a bit further away from us on the beach, which was our only consolation! We both made our Xmas videos for friends and family back home and headed back into town to our hotel. Jason’s parents came round that evening and we brought them pizza and watched some more movies with a few beers. We all headed out for a few beers just round from our hotel and brought in Xmas day there. Headed back in the early hours of the morning to get some much needed rest before Xmas dinner!
Xmas Day we got up pretty late due to getting in late the night before. We decided after a ‘Pot Noodle’ breakfast that the only way to start Xmas Day properly was to have a whiskey and a cigar! We were right, it was a great start to the day! We exchanged our gifts for each other and also got some nice things from Jason’s parents. We all agreed we had to take/wear our gifts to Xmas dinner. I had to wear my Michael Jackson t-shirt off Ed and my silk Elephant boxers off Jase! lol.
Xmas dinner was amazing! 5 course meal including mince pies and a turkey dinner. It was safe to say everyone was stuffed by the end and could hardly move from our seats. We all walked along the beach on the way back (1st time Ive ever been on a beach at Xmas!) to our hotel. Stayed in and watched ‘The Assassination of Jessie James and Tropic Thunder.
Up early the following day to check out of our swanky hotel and Jason stayed in Pattaya with his parents, me and Ed headed to Ko Samet…
Here are a few pictures for that last few posts. Not many but enough for now.
