What I did…
We got the boat from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan and arrived at our pre-booked hotel, ‘Power Beach Resort’. They had messed up the room situation so the 5 of us who booked now had three rooms instead of two. With Brogan now joining us there was 6 so it worked out well across the 3 rooms. Went straight for the pool after another long day of travel to chill out and recharge. We all had dinner at the hotel and after a beer at the beach bar we all headed to sleep.
Today was the day we had been waiting for, it was the morning of the Full Moon Party! After brekkie in bed we went and met Ad down the beach to work on the tan. The rest of the lads met us on the beach and we all stayed put until just before sunset. Had a burger and a few beers in the hotel before heading down to Had Rin.
We got to the beach and after a trip to the worst toilet in the world we decided it would be rude not to get a bucket in each. Samsung, M150 and Coke for me! After standing way too close to the speakers listening to Drum & Bass we headed over to Mushroom Mountain at the end of the beach (not before seeing a guy a little worse of wear trying to bury himself in sand!). We threw some shapes at the floor and were well in the spirit of Full Moon by the time we got to the huge burning sign on the beach.
We all decided that it would be fun to get body paint and after getting some sort of flower painted on my chest got a crazy sun painted on my head. Brogan got flowers and an eye patch, Cliff got a teddy bear on his chest, Daz got a Batman symbol on his chest, Ad had abs and Skitt got Superman on his chest.
Just after here we all found out that we had either lost Daz, or he had ran off with some other people. So we walked to the other end of the beach to wait at our agreed point if anyone got lost (sensible, i know!). We waited for an hour and half but still no sign so we started to walk down the beach looking for him at the same time as partying on.
We came across the fire skipping rope after not long and watched as person after person came to show they were not as drunk as everyone knew they were. They were very drunk, and as a result, more than likely still have the scars on their arms, back and legs to prove it!
Me and Ad went down the slide that was soaked in petrol but not alight (only found out it was petrol after sliding half way down and smelling it). We bumped back into Daz and we all headed to the Techno stage. We stayed there for a while before spending the rest of the night listening to Drum & Bass.
Brogan dancing around with her devil horns on, covered in paint and the lads covered in paint dancing round like there was no tomorrow.
We all stayed for sunrise and at 7am it was time for me and Brogan to leave. We got back and passed out almost immediately. Such a long day but it was unbelievably good. I did not take my camera to Full Moon but thanks to Ad, Cliff, Daz and Skitt you can see some pictures below.
Most of the following day was spent in bed due to the time we got in from the Full Moon. We met the lads at the pool and reminisced about the night before. Back to the hut and Brogan decided to lock us out of the room! So after waiting outside for 30mins we eventually got our door opened by the security guard.
Early that morning we were now officially a couple! We were also leaving to make our way to Phucket airport for our flight to Kuala Lumpur that evening. We set off late from every destination, and to make it even better the driver went the extra long way to pick up all of the locals on the way. So its approaching check-in time and we still are nowhere near our drop off point in Phucket town. Its another hour from our drop off point to the airport! So we decide to stop the bus in its tracks and get a taxi to the airport. We get a scary looking guy from Singapore. He looked like he ate people for breakfast, but as the saying goes, ‘Never judge a book by its cover’. He was the nicest guy around, spoke amazing English and gave us all sorts of advice for Malaysia and Singapore. Also to Brogans delight he loved ABBA, which is all he played the whole way to the airport, talking about his wife and kids.
He got us to the airport on time and we made our flight to KL after a Subway and a quick beer! The next blog will come from my 4th country on this trip, Malaysia.
