What I did…
As I arrived in Railay a French guy (Xavier) approached me and we set about finding some cheap accommodation on the east side (the cheap side). We found a cheap room and then headed to the internet cafe. After a much needed shower we headed down the beach for a few beers, we met up with Ben and all had dinner. After dinner we headed to YaYa Bar just off the coast next to a huge but natural rock climbers paradise. After a drink or two in the reggae bar we headed back to get some sleep.
Woke up pretty late the next day after deciding it was time for a lie-in. Xavier moved out as Brogan was arriving today from her mega journey from Hong Kong. I headed down to the west side beach and spent a few hours soaking up the sun, and eating crisps. I strolled back to Yaya Guest House and sat in the bar waiting for Brogan, reading ‘Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas’. Brogan arrived and we had a very long catch up as we had not been in each others company for over 2 months!
We headed out for food and began getting to know each other, basically taking off where we left it in Vietnam. We had a stroll down the beach and headed back to Yaya. We watched Home Alone on my iPhone (going against my Christmas tradition, but ill allow it just this once!). Early night to prepare for a full day on the beach.
We headed to the beach and chilled out in the blistering heat. One of the hottest days Ive ever had! Easily hit the mid 30’s! Constantly returning to the sea to cool down! Railay turned out to be a bit of a Vietnam reunion as I saw Irene on the beach and as I was walking back from the beach I bumped in to Marcus. Both of which I had not seen since Saigon. After a quick catch up with both me and Brogan headed back to Yaya to get ready to go out for food. We ended up watching Snatch (Brogan’s 1st time, I was shocked and appalled!). After some food we booked the trip to Koh Tao for the following day and went to ‘The Last Bar’ to watch the fire show, which was nothing short of amazing, and we bumped into Marcus and Jamie again. Both of which were very drunk at this point, Marcus hitting me on the head with his water bottle to say hello.
We got back to the hut around 1am and packed to leave at 5am that morning, we decided that we were never going to get enough sleep so stayed awake talking about the most random topics, as only us two could! After 4 hours straight it was time to get our boat for the long trip to Koh Tao. We lay under the stars waiting for our long-tail boat to arrive and then set off on our way…
