Damnoen Saduak & Kanchanaburi, Thailand, April 2011

What I did…

Up very early the next day and got a Tuk-Tuk to take me to Victory Monument, only it started going to wrong way! I told him again so he turns round but then decides we have to go to his house to pick up his phone. This act made me miss my bus by 7 minutes and I had to wait another 53 for the next. Not impressed!

I went to see the Floating market in Damnoen Saduak and saw people selling random items from boats, unsuccessful and they moved on down the canal! I then went from taxi-bus to bus to moto-taxi to get to Tiger Temple. The moto-taxi could see I was in a rush and so I got charged a stupid amount (quadruple what it costs to get here from Bangkok 3 hours away!) to go the last 36KM.

I got there and had some photos with the Tigers, which all looked dosed up and pretty unhappy. Sad to see really. Still I got my photo took with them and got to pat a live Tiger and play with a young cub with a plastic bottle. I then went to ‘The bridge over the river Kwai’ and got a few snaps before the moto-taxi had the cheek to ask for a tip! “A tip?! A TIP, I think the tip is in the 400B Ive just handed over you cheeky little… canary, you” I ruffled his hair and said beat it ya little scamp (i didn’t, he was like 60). Back to Bangkok exhausted and chilled out.

After catching a very bumpy and long train from the border between Brazil and Bolivia we arrived in Santa Cruz knowing time wasn’t on our side. We caught a taxi to the centre and found a cheap hostel with some dodgy beds and set about finding breakfast. We found a mercado (market) that was, on […]
